2023 Walk to the Lighthouse

Walk to the Lighthouse for Mental Health & Addictions Services

The Walk to the Lighthouse is sponsored by Equilibrium Burlington in support of the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation to raise funds for infrastructure and support for patients, families, and caregivers through Joseph Brant Hospital's in-patient and outpatient Mental Health & Addiction (MH&A) services.

WALK WITH US: Assemble your team or walk with a partner to walk toward providing enhanced mental health & addictions programs in our community.



9:30 -10am - Pre-walk activities/ entertainment with Singer Dania Thurman (music to inspire and motivate) & Fitness warm-up exercises led by Physiotherapist Anne Svetik-Jones  (a chance to stretch, meditate, deep breath & reflect) 

10:00 - 10:05am: Welcome/ Logistics & Introductory speeches 

10:05 -10:20am: Speeches from Dignitaries, MP Karina Gould , MPP Natalie Pierre , Burlington Mayor Marianne Meed-Ward, Ward 2 Councillor Lisa Kearns and then (CEO JBH) Eric Vanderwall

10:20am: Walk commences towards the Lighthouse and back (approx. 5 km). Dancers from Canadian Dance Company will entertain at the turn around point. Water & treats will be available.

11:15-11:30am: After walk cool down exercises; cotton candy & popcorn, bagels & cream cheese supplied by JC's Bagels and other refreshments (coffee, tea, lemonade, water) raffle of prizes from local businesses

Finish time 11:45-12pm - Wrap up thank you speech from Event Lead Organizers, Sylvia/ Melanie

PARKING: 200 parking passes will be available for the hospital indoor parking garage.  Free parking also available in all city parking lots on weekends. (This does not include art gallery (private parking lot) or beach strip parking (charge for weekend parking)  

Event Location: The event takes place at the Joseph Brant Hospital parking lot directly behind the Joseph Brant Museum.

DONATE: Help us raise funds to support in-patient and outpatient Mental Health & Addictions (MH&A) programs at Joseph Brant Hospital. Any donation in lieu of a participation fee is appreciated but not necessary. All donations are tax-deductible. Click here to donate today!
